Stress Management: The Power of Logging Off

Stress Management:
The Power of Logging off

I had to step back from social channels, y’all. Somewhere between endless headlines, reels, and photos, I realized I was doom-scrolling my way into mental exhaustion. The subtle pressure to keep up with everything and everyone had quietly turned into a drain.
My break wasn’t about rejecting technology or pretending the digital world doesn’t exist. It was about listening to my nervous system.

Our brains and bodies were never built to process this much constant stimulation, and mine was letting me know it was out of balance.

The first thing I noticed after logging off? Time. The average adult spends over two hours a day on social media, totaling more than 14 hours a week. Take that time back, and suddenly you’ve got space. Space for the things you’ve been avoiding, the tasks you keep pushing down the list, and the people you’ve been meaning to connect with.

For me, that looked like finally unpacking a suitcase from a trip months ago, clearing out my office, and catching up with family and friends by phone. Those conversations felt richer, more grounded, and far more nourishing than a string of double-taps or fire-emoji reactions. It reminded me that real relationships aren’t measured in likes but in presence.

Does this mean social media is “bad”? Not at all.

I enjoy connecting with many of you on Instagram and other platforms. However, the problem arises when the tool begins to dictate how we start our mornings, how we measure success, and how we perceive ourselves in comparison to others.
Taking a break is a simple but powerful reminder: you exist beyond the feed. You’re a whole person with a life that unfolds offline, in moments that don’t need to be documented to matter.

If you’ve been feeling overstimulated, distracted, or just plain tired of the noise, this is your nudge. Step back. Breathe. Notice what fills the space once the scroll is gone. You may be surprised by how much calmer, clearer, and more grounded you feel.

And when you try it, let me know how it goes!

Until next time!
